How should I prepare myself for future claims?
We advise that all companies keep accurate records on the hiring and release dates of all employees, and their hours worked. This may make a difference when responding to unemployment claims.
We do not suggest that all individuals should be denied unemployment compensation. However, we do advise employers to perform proper documentation to ensure that they will not pay for claims unnecessarily. There is no reason that a small business owner should be taxed when they are not the responsible party.
