Help with a specific accounting software product is difficult to comment on because it all depends on which particular software product you are talking about. Each individual product works differently. Some are incredibly old fashioned while others skip many steps in between which might make it too easy for you to make mistakes.
We have consulted on the use of Quickbooks for the past fourteen years and are great proponents of its use in many small business settings. But it is not all things to all people. It does not work properly in all settings. In many instances the first thing that should be taught is how dangerous it can be to ownership if it is used improperly. No program will ever turn anyone into a properly trained bookkeeper or accountant who is capable of keeping a company or its ownership out of trouble.
