Auditing and Amending Tax Return Chicago Illinois
Once the audit of a tax return has been completed, you will receive a list of changes from the Internal Revenue Service or The Illinois Department of Revenue Auditor.
The letter will also be specific as to whether or not the auditor would like your return to be amended or not. Most instances do not require a full amendment. But if there are substantial changes to a balance sheet, many times an amendment is warranted. In order to stay in compliance, you must either accept the changes, following the directions of the auditor, or take the examination into the reconsideration or appeals process.
