Sales And Use Tax Audit Firms Chicago Illinois
The number of sales and use tax audits being conducted on Form ST-1, by the Illinois Department of Revenue have been increasing in recent years.
Many have said that this is a function of the State’s financial woes given the fact that audits have always brought in substantial revenues.
As highly recommended CPA’s and EA’s in Chicago, we’ve received several questions lately about firms that supposedly specialize in Sales and Use Tax audits. Although I am sure that it is possible for a firm to handle only this, I have never actually known of one, nor would I consider anyone doing this to be capable of providing adequate representation.
If you don’t actually do accounting on a monthly basis, and have lots of experience filling out the forms, how could you possibly represent someone adequately? Certainly, if you aren’t doing the actual accounting, no one would recommend you in the first place. How would you get any experience?
