Disturbing numbers have just come out showing that young American Men are being left behind on their road to adulthood. Those numbers include…
1 – As of August of this year, employment in men aged 25 to 34 was down to 89%. That’s 700K fewer young men than were employed in 2004. More women of the same age group are entering the workforce currently than men.
2 – 20% of men in that same age group still live with their parents compared to only 12% of women.
3 – There are currently 260K more men than women in the age group of 16 to 29 that are unemployed, not in school, and not in a work training program.
America’s young men are simply falling behind their female counterparts.
All of this began a few years ago when high school educators first announced that the number of boys going to college had plummeted. Now that these children have become young men, their aimlessness is having far reaching results.
Sociologists and Psychologists have come up with a couple of reasons for this phenomenon that include…
A More Equal Playing Field
Up until about a decade ago, young men didn’t have a problem getting a job and putting their lives together because they were men. Young women have now entered the workforce providing them with competition.
Shifts away from traditional gender roles and single-earner families have added to this issue. Declines in male dominated workplaces like manufacturing and the ability for young women to work remotely while raising children has complicated the problem further.
A Lack Of Emotional And Psychological Maturity
Young men who either don’t go to college or drop out after a few semesters report feelings of being lost and having no direction. They say that they just don’t see a future and don’t know why they’re going to school in the first place.
Take a moment and think about the implications for our future. It’s a bitter pill to swallow.
Let me leave you with this…
The deadline for personal income tax returns and C Corps on extension is Tuesday, October 15th. There’s still plenty of time to get your work done. If you own a Partnership or an S Corp, those returns will need to be completed prior to your 1040.
If you don’t file your returns by the deadline you’ll be charged a Failure To File Penalty. If you didn’t make ample deposits at both the Federal and State Levels, you’ll also be responsible for a Failure To Pay Penalty.
These penalties normally max out at 40% of your tax liability. In addition, you’ll pay interest at the Federal and State rate on any unpaid liabilities.
But these additional liabilities are unnecessary if you file your returns and make your deposits timely. Please get your work into us today.
We’re all going to get through this. Let’s get through it together.
