A federal court in Washington D.C., rejected a request from an immigrant rights group to temporarily block the IRS from sharing taxpayer data that could make it easier to identify and deport people who are in the U.S. illegally. On Tuesday, a three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals declined to issue a preliminary injunction for the immigrants’ rights group Centro de Trabajadores Unidos, over the data sharing agreement.
The agreement allows U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to submit names and addresses of immigrants inside the U.S. illegally to the IRS for cross-verification against tax records. In declining the preliminary injunction request, Judge Harry T. Edwards wrote that the nonprofit groups “are unlikely to succeed on the merits of their claim,” since the information the agencies are sharing isn’t covered by the IRS privacy statute.
The creation of the data sharing agreement was so controversial that the Acting Commissioner of the Service resigned last year over the deal.
Let me leave you with this…
If you watched the U.S. Men’s Olympic Hockey Team win against the Canadians Sunday morning, you had to ask yourself a basic question: “How is this even possible?”” Canadians can skate before they can walk.
The answer is that the U.S. Team was entrepreneured.
When Mike Sullivan took the job as Head Coach, he knew that the Canadiens were the only team to beat. None of the other teams even began to factor into the equation.
The basics behind the win go like this…
1 – The 2026 U.S. Men’s Olympic Hockey Team was formed with top National Hockey League (NHL) talent. For the first time in 12 years, the NHL sent its players, allowing a true best-on-best competition.
2 – The first six players were announced in June 2025 based on their performance in the 4 Nations Face-Off.
3 – 16 players on the roster were products of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP).
4 – The final 25-man roster wasn’t completed until early in January 2026.
5 – Due to the NHL Schedule, the team had only three days of practice together before facing their first opponent in the Olympics. And they won.
They won it all.
The Canadiens clearly outskated the U.S. Team in the third period. They even outshot our team 42 – 28, but the win ultimately came down to one man.
Goalie Connor Hellebuyck. This guy was a wall, stopping 41 of 42 shots on goal.
This case study offers many lessons for everyone.
1 – Your company can’t be the best if you don’t surround yourself with the best.
2 – A well-composed team quickly outperforms others. It doesn’t take months. It might only take days.
3 – Many times, it all comes down to one person.
Following Team USA’s gold medal win, Jack Hughes, the player who scored the winning overtime goal was interviewed. Though obviously bleeding after losing a front tooth from a high-sticking incident, Hughes didn’t take credit for the win.
Instead he gave credit where credit was due. Hughes said that Goalie Connor Hellebuyck was the, “best player by a mile.”
He could have been arrogant but instead was humble. Hughes also said…
“I love the USA. I love my teammates. It’s unbelievable. The U.S. are a hockey brotherhood. It’s so strong…I’m so proud to be an American today.”
Me too kid and not just today. I’m proud to be an American everyday.
And it all began with an American named Mike Sullivan who knew he had to entrepreneur a team with only one goal in mind; to beat the Canadiens. It proves the old adage…
You can’t soar with Eagles when you work with Turkeys.
Think about this when putting together your own teams.
