EIDL Targeted Advance Grants Expanded

EIDL Targeted Advance Grants Expanded

The Small Business Administration has increased the amount of the EIDL Grant from $10K to $15K.

In order to qualify for the expanded funding, and entity must

– Be located in a low-income community
– Have suffered a greater than 50% loss of income over a comparative eight week period between 2020 and 2019
– Have 10 or fewer employees

The SBA began emailing invitations to apply for the enhanced grant earlier this week. This may be in response to the difficulties many have found in receiving the grant.

Numbers vary, but most are reporting that only 5% or 6% of the money in this program has been distributed to date. Many applications have been rejected. Now that the SBA has tightened up the application process of underwriting these grants, it’s extremely important to get your numbers straight.

If you need help with the process, please let us know.

Let me leave you with this.

The CDC has now recommended that those of us who are fully vaccinated don’t have to wear masks in public or indoors. The exception would come when on a plane, bus, train, or in prison. The state and city are yet to follow suit.

In communications from government officials, it looks as if they will ease this restriction in the relatively near future, hallmarking a return to some sense of normalcy.

Though I applaud the effort, it doesn’t address how anyone would actually know if a person has been fully vaccinated or not. If you have a store and someone walks in without a mask, how would you and your employees be able to be safe?

The only way would be to make sure that you and all of your people have been fully vaccinated.

We certainly can’t force any of our people to get a shot, but we can lead. Talk to your people. Express your concerns. Let them know that you care. Give them time off to get vaccinated. Help them to help you.

After all of this time, and everything we’ve been through, you don’t need half of your people out for a couple of weeks dealing with this.

It looks like it will be nice this weekend. Enjoy yourself.
