Empty Offices Costing Taxpayers Millions

A new report shows that millions of square feet of office space is now sitting vacant across the nation, and guess who’s footing the bill?

Most Federal Agencies allow for a hybrid work situation while not making any concrete demands on a return to work policy. The new administration hasn’t formed a single-overriding policy or approach asking government workers to return to the office.

As such, most government offices are so empty that you could play golf in them and never need to shout, “Fore.”

Many officials at the federal level have urged the new administration to reverse this policy but those arguments have fallen on deaf ears. Everyone from Capitol Hill legislators to others in rural districts have said that the workers don’t even have the reliable internet connections it would take to put in a productive day.

Others say that taxpayers need face-to-face interaction with government employees to resolve many issues. But the National Unions representing government workers have resisted and the administration remains mute.

The study showed that of the 24 Federal Agencies questioned, 17 used less than 25% of their office space. Not even one of the agencies that responded used more than 49% of their existing space.

Our government spends over $7B to lease and maintain office space. Go ahead and figure out how much money is being wasted.

Yet somehow, the only thing they ever want to do is raise our taxes.
