Five Week Extension Possible for PPP Loan Program

In a surprise move last night, The Senate passed a measure extending the Payroll Protection Program until August 8th. The program had expired, as a matter of law, on June 30th. This law would give The SBA the authority necessary for it to continue to provide these loans until the first week of August.

The bill still needs to pass in The House and be signed by our President, for it to become law. With both houses set to recess prior to the July 4th holiday, no one knows whether or not this will get done in a timely fashion.

$129B remains available in the program. This bill is intended to give business owners the additional time that many may need in order to qualify for the loan.

This is yet another chance, probably the last one that you will get, to be able to take advantage of what many would consider a necessity. If you are at all behind in your work, get it into us today. You don’t want to miss this opportunity.

Let me leave you with this one thought…

I wanted to take a moment to think about the generation of Americans that were born at the beginning of the last century. My Grandfather, an almost full-blooded Cherokee Indian from Wilson County, Tennessee, was born in January of 1909.

When he was five years old, World War One began, leaving 22 million dead.

In 1918, when he was nine, the global pandemic of The Spanish Flu began, with another 50 million gone.

In 1929, when he was graduating from high school, The Great Depression began causing unprecedented unemployment, inflation, and famine.

World War Two began when he was thirty, and 60 million souls were lost.

The Korean Conflict began when he was forty-three. VietNam didn’t end until he was past retirement age.

Yet somehow, in the middle of all of that true nightmare, he raised a family and lived a great life. He stayed positive until the day that he died thirty years ago. My love and respect for him has no bound or measure.

So the next time that you are feeling sorry for yourself in the middle of this pandemic, take a moment and remember your own people that went through the first, seventy-five years of the twentieth century. They had it way worse than any of us could possibly imagine.

Then remember that their blood flows through your veins to this very day, and know that you have the right stuff necessary to get through this thing. Know that we will all get through this together.
