IRS To Be Weaponized

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the new administration has begun the process of weaponizing the Internal Revenue Service to go after left-leaning groups that oppose the new federal agenda.

The process aims to install allies of the administration in the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the IRS. Gary Shapely, advisor to Scott Bessent our Treasury Secretary, is to replace Guy Ficco, the Chief of CID who’s been with the investigative unit for decades.

The action would put firmer control over the unit, inhibiting the legal actions of its attorneys. A list of targets has been proposed including billionaire George Soros, and his affiliated groups.

Let me leave you with this…

In order to explain the dangers of this plan, please allow me to tell you a story.

Once upon a time in a magical place named Chicago, an Alderman was going to work. He pulled his car into an assigned parking spot, opened the door, and to his great surprise and bemusement found a crinkled up hundred dollar bill laying on the pavement.

He then did what any reasonable person would do. He picked it up, put it in his pocket, and rode the elevator up to the City Council to do whatever it is that Aldermen do.

A month later the same thing happened again. He opened his car door, found a fifty, thanked his lucky stars, put it in his pocket, and went to work. It even happened a third time.

What he didn’t notice was the IRS van parked at the other end of the parking lot where a CID Officer was recording all three of the scenes.

A few months later, after he’d filed his income tax return, he was summoned to the Kluczynski Federal Building where he met with CID Officers with his attorney present.

They showed him the tapes of him picking up the money, pulled out his income tax return, and then showed him that he was guilty of income tax evasion for not claiming the $200 on his return. He was then given a choice.

Either cooperate with the Feds in an ongoing corruption investigation or spend the next 12 months of his life in a Federal Penitentiary.

Please understand that a charge of Income Tax Evasion is just that simple. They prove that you received the money, show that you didn’t claim it on your return, and guess what?

You can get three hots, a cot, and the prison guards lining up for service every morning before breakfast. It’s a black and white, open and shut case. Guilty. Fagetabadit.

If they want to get you, they’ll find a way.

When the Feds came out with the indictment against the corrupt officials and it was learned that the Alderman was a cooperating witness in the investigation, he lost his seat in the City Council because no one could ever trust him again. He also couldn’t become a lobbyist, which is the normal fall back position for anyone losing an Aldermanic Seat for the same reason.

He was basically run out of town on a rail for a lousy couple of C notes.

But I’m sure you’re now saying that it couldn’t possibly happen to you. Afterall, you’re no George Soros.

Let me also inform you about another Federal Law. It requires political candidates and committees to itemize and report contributions from any individual that aggregates to more than $200 in any election cycle.

For these itemized contributions, the committee’s report must include…

1 – The contributor’s full name and mailing address.
2 – The date and amount of the contribution.
3 – And the contributor’s occupation and employer.

Who hasn’t given a couple hundred dollars to a politician from time to time?

Today it’s George Soros. It isn’t impossible to realize that tomorrow it could be you. Your name is probably on a list of political contributors somewhere.

Either don’t pick up that hundred dollar bill or don’t drop the soap in the prison showers. This is bad, very bad.

If you need to talk, you know my number.

We’re all going to get through this. Let’s get through it together.
