Lawmakers Strike Deal To Extend Loan Deadline

Senior House and Senate members have struck a bi-partisan deal to extend the popular PPP Loan program past the March 31st deadline. The legislation that has been introduced to the house would push the deadline back to May 31st and allow the SBA to continue processing applications 30 days past that deadline, if necessary.

The House is scheduled to vote on the bill next week before its members leave for their spring break. The biggest hurdle would be the Senate which would require almost unanimous support to expedite passage and delay a lengthy floor debate.

If you qualify for this loan and have not yet applied, get your paperwork in today. Also don’t forget the Employer Retention Credit which is now available to most businesses. A wrap around package with each is now possible and something that should be planned.

Please let us know how we can help.

Let me leave you with this.

The process getting vaccinated against the virus has become a confusing process to say the least. Our fine public servants keep talking about opening up additional vaccination sites, but it still seems impossible to get an appointment. There are a few shortcuts that I have discovered, that I would like to share.

The easiest way is for your regular doctor to put you on their hospital’s vaccination list. I made it a point of emailing my doctor every week basically begging for an appointment. I tried to do it in a way that wasn’t too aggravating of whiney. I guess the squeaky wheel gets the oil because I received my first vaccination shot yesterday night.

Zocdoc lists publicly available appointments as well as others from local organizations. It is by far the tool that controls the most appointments; like the thousands from the United Center, several hospitals, and many college vaccination centers. You can even register to be notified when they have available appointments.

Cook County has several mass vaccination sites. You can register with the county at the following address

Many pharmacies are offering vaccinations as well. You may register at the following sites

Dr. B is a national website offering stand-by appointments for leftover vaccines that would normally be thrown away. Given the refrigeration requirements of many of the vaccines, when people don’t show up for their appointments, they don’t want to throw away perfectly good samples.

This is something where you would get a text on your phone and need to be somewhere in an hour or so. To register, please go to

My most fervent hope and prayer is that we all can put this national nightmare behind us. I almost didn’t write this piece knowing the hate emails I will certainly get from all of the anti-vaxxers and other conspiracy theorists, but I will mention one thing to all of you.

Whether you are for it or against it, imagine how good you will feel once it’s done. The relief of the mental pressure alone knowing that you and your loved ones are safe is indescribable.

We’re all going to get through this. Let’s get through it together.
