Let me leave you with this.

“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”
President Abraham Lincoln from his first inaugural address

Citizenship is a sacred obligation. Being a citizen means that you have inalienable rights including those as defined in our Bill of Rights. We certainly have the right to Free Speech and Assembly, but with all rights come responsibilities. One may certainly say whatever they want as long as they are willing to suffer the consequences. We certainly have the right to Free Assembly, as long as that assembly is done in a peaceful and law abiding manner.

As President Lincoln so eloquently said, it’s time for us to listen to “the better angels of our nature.” It’s also time for us to

Think rather than follow our emotions blindly

Seek compromise rather than conflict

Act with understanding rather than rage

Love all of our brothers and sIsters that may have differing views

I call upon all of you, whatever your individual views happen to be, to dial down the rhetoric, to be moderate in your personal conduct, and to stop the hate.

If this insanity continues, our union will certainly fail.

We’re all going to get through this. Let’s get through it together.
