The Federal Budget passed by Congress last week officially gives the IRS a $20.2B haircut. This had been previously agreed upon, but not actually signed into law.
The bill provides a $12.3B budget for the Service in Fiscal 2024. This is the same amount that’s in place for this year.
The IRS Budget is split into three pieces…
1 – $2.8B for Taxpayer Services
2 – $5.4B for Enforcement
3 – $4.1B for Operations Support
The bill itself also stops any additional transfers of funds into enforcement. But such transfers are allowed internally, under other specific circumstances.
Let me leave you with this.
This weekend Christians celebrate Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the defeat of death, and the hope of an eternal life. Easter is certainly the most important of all Christian Holidays.
More than anything it reminds Christians of the concepts of love for all, the joy of forgiveness, and the hope of salvation. No matter what your religious leanings happen to be, aren’t these concepts that we can all get behind?
Whether you’re Jewish or Muslim, Buddhist or Hindu, or Atheist or Agnostic, these ideas unite us rather than divide. In this election cycle, with all of the forces spending billions to segregate us as a nation, let’s do something really different.
Let’s buck the trend.
No matter what your religious beliefs happen to be, you’re going to sit down to dinner this Sunday. And what will you discuss?
Will it be the latest polling results in our national elections, our difficulties with border security, or a woman’s right to choose? Maybe it will be how to stop future terrorist attacks, how to reduce crime, or the best way to strengthen our economy?
Or maybe we could do something really different. Maybe we could discuss the things that unite us.
Maybe we could talk about the concepts of love, hope, and joy.
For we are America. We are one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Please realize that united we will stand, but divided we will certainly fall.
And at the end of the day, we really only have each other.
